ABOUT THETA PAVIS

Theta Pavis is a poet, journalist and editor. Her poetry has appeared in numerous journals, including the Amherst Review and the Journal of New Jersey Poets. Her nonfiction has been published in Discover magazine and the Bergen Record newspaper, among others. She writes for the New Jersey Moms Blog and is the founder of Ink Stained Mothers, a local network for writing moms. Theta is the former editor of Palisade magazine, where she won a first place award for feature writing from the Society of Professional Journalists (NJ). She is currently the editor of Peace & Freedom, a national peace-activist magazine. She has taught journalism at UCLA and speech communications at Kean University. An avid traveler, she’s driven across the U.S. four times and spent a year backpacking in Europe and Asia with her husband, during which they rode Indian camels, Thai elephants, and Mongolian horses. She’s been known to write poems on the back of her family’s grocery shopping lists, mixing metaphors with meatloaf. She is currently working on her first collection of poetry.
Theta lives in Jersey City.
