MEET THE CREATIVES

Brush/McGrath (works) - Shawn Brush and Molly McGrath are Brooklyn based performing artists and choreographers. They have co-created since 2016, and have had their work presented at Arts on Site, Judson Church, Dixon Place, Triskelion Arts, Green Space, and a good friend’s wedding. Both Molly and Shawn graduated from Mason Gross School of the Arts. Also, they are married. Shawn refuses to make a dance about kissing no matter how many times Molly has asked.

Kat Reese - (she/her) is a dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist working in the New York City and New Jersey areas. In her work, Kat often likes to explore themes of human connection and community through a wide spectrum of movement from the subtle to the explosive, as well as elements of improvisational scoring and real-time decision making. Kat has danced for numerous companies and choreographers in New York City including the Equus Projects, Brit Falcon, Monteleone Dance, and Salvatore LaRussa Dance Theatre, as well as the Jersey City based Kennedy Dancers Repertory Company, where she served as a dancer, rehearsal director, and guest choreographer. She has also presented and performed her own work in venues including Dixon Place, Alchemical Theater Lab, and Triskelion Arts, and enjoys collaborating with her partner Zoltan Suhay on dance film creations as well. Kat has also taught classes and created choreography for dancers of all ages and experience levels over the last decade, and feels that dance, movement, and creativity are for everyone. Kat graduated summa cum laude with her BFA in dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. IG: @kat.reese

Jaqlin Medlock is a hard-of-hearing dancer, photographer, and certified energy healer based in Jersey City. A Bronx, NY native, she holds a BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College. Medlock has toured internationally, performing throughout Europe, South Africa, and Southeast Asia, as well as across the United States. She has danced works by renowned choreographers such as Merce Cunningham, Trisha Brown, Nacho Duato, Donald Byrd, and Angelin Preljocai, and has collaborated with artists including Nejla Yatkin, Sonya Tayeh, Julie Bour, and Pedro Ruiz. A member of Stephen Petronio Company since 2011, she has also been a longtime performer with Davalois Fearon Dance and Indelible Dance, and currently dances with Site Specific Dances and Kenia Rosete Dance. Recognized as “On The Rise” by
Dance Magazine in 2012 and awarded a TWI-NY Pandemic Award in 2020, Medlock’s artistry is informed by her experiences studying tango, salsa, and flamenco, reflecting her appreciation for connection in movement. Follow her at @jaqlinmedlock and @jaqlinmedlockphotography.

Kenia Rosete - (she/her) is a Mexican-American dancer, choreographer, teacher, and performance producer from the borderlands of Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California, currently based in the borderlands of Jersey City/New York City. Her work, rooted in social and contemporary dance forms, highlights a meticulous investigation of proximity and touch in highly collaborative performance works. She has been presented throughout Southern California, New York and New Jersey venues including The Mayan, Cafe Sevilla, La Nacional, SMUSH Gallery, IMUR Gallery, Arts On Site and Art House Productions. Kenia has worked as a dancer in performance projects with Lacina Coulibaly, Beth Gill, Kyle Marshall, Richard Rivera, and Arthur Aviles; as Project Manager for Alethea Pace; and as a Producer for a new dance program at Art House Productions. She is a two-time Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund grant recipient, a 2023 Monira Foundation residency artist and a NJ State Council on the Arts 2025 Finalist . Kiernan Robinson - (they/him) is a multidisciplinary artist and noise-maker from Atlanta, Georgia. Their endeavors recently have focused on labor, effort, and community; exploring the ways in which we all work to understand and reconcile the world around us. Currently they are working towards their Masters in Composition and Experimental Sound Practices from the California Institute of the Arts.

Meagan Woods - (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist who works in dance, theater, and costume design. She holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Simon Fraser University and a BFA in Dance from Rutgers University. Her work has been shown at Bryant Park, Lincoln Center, the TEDx Stage, and at venues across the US, Canada, Portugal, France, Taiwan, Norway, Greece and The Philippines. Recent projects include a multimedia installation that uses sculpture, music, and video projection to tell a story of coral reefs and climate change (onceshedries.com). Meagan is also a collaborator with Moving Matter, a long-term research project that centers natural materials (mud, grass, branches) as guiding collaborative forces in the development of dances, costume designs, and installations. Paul Pinto-  is a composer, performer, opera-sermonizer, and multi-disciplinary dabbler who makes music, new media, micro-theatres and durational performance by himself, as well as with his friends, including thingNY and Varispeed. Coming up: Water Music (a new album), Eat the Document, String Quartet No. 3 ‘Octet’ and The All-Father (a new Ring Cycle). He is a 2025 NJ State Council on the Arts Fellow. Website: pfpinto.com

Shawn Brush - (he/him) is a NY based dancer and choreographer. He dances with Falcon Dance, DanceTactics Performance Group, and is currently on project with The Dance Exchange. Shawn has previously danced for Amber Sloan, Maya Orchin, Laura Peterson Choreography, Stefanie Nelson, The New Collectives, and Artichoke Dance Company. Shawn is also a teaching artist and has taught at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, Raritan Valley Community College, and public schools across New Jersey.
